5 Wineries in Temecula You Need to Visit + Bonus

There are plenty of wineries in Temecula, but not all of them are worth your time. When you visit the wine country in southern California, it’s important to understand what makes each winery special, so you can decide which ones are worth adding to your itinerary and which ones aren’t worth your time.

After visiting over 20 different wineries in Temecula, here are our top five that you need to visit on your next trip to the wine country!

By the way, if you’re visiting Temecula Valley, we also wrote our best things to do in the Temecula Valley (other than sipping wine of course). These 2 articles will give you all the information you need to fully enjoy Temecula Valley.

Remember: each place is unique, find the one that fits you best.

1) Lorimar Vineyards and Winery

Live music, great wine and beautiful landscapes. That’s what I’d say if I have to pick the best things about Liromar. This winery is our favorite one in Temecula Valley and it’s a great place to visit as couples, as big groups or even going solo.

If you’re looking for a relaxing day trip, relaxing, sipping wine and chilling in front of a beautiful view this might be your first choice. The vineyards are beautiful and the wine is delicious. They offer a variety of wines, red and whites cheap and expensive, and you can of course take some home with you.

By the way, during the summer be sure to check out their concert series, it bring this place to a whole new level.

See that circular stage? That’s where the real magic happens. Lorimar Vineyards and Winery.

2) Wilson Creek Winery

As you enter Wilson Creek Winery you already feel you’re in a magical world where green hills surround you and birds sing you songs, also, there’s this huge wine bottle monument at the center of it all which makes this scenery even better.

This winery is truly impressive – it’s size, the beautiful landscapes, the hospitality.. It is definitely one of the best wineries in Temecula Valley. It’s also the home of the famous “Almond Sparkling Wine” and other world-class wines. What makes this place special is that it has cool facilities that makes this experience more than just “tasting wine” and it also acts as a wedding venue so you can be sure this place is breathtaking.

The only downside of this winery is that it’s lacking intimacy, as it’s built to serve large crowds, which actually makes it perfect for groups. It’s more of an issue for young couples that usually prefer a more intimate atmosphere when they visit such places.

Other than that, its a great winery with beautiful vine gardens around it and that’s why it made it to the list!

3) Vindemia Estate Winery

Vindemia Estate Winery, it’s easy to fall in love with this small and magical winery. This one is a family owned place and it is position on the Temecula hillside, providing a real European touch to the place.

What makes it special is that it’s super small and intimate, and you get a very personal hospitality. It’s a perfect place to visit as part of a romantic day trip, walk by the vine yards and taste their very (very) good wine choices, but don’t expect to spend an entire day here.

The vineyards are truly beautiful, and the staff is fantastic, they truly serve you with joy. One of my personal choices when visiting the best wineries in Temecula.

4) Leoness Cellars

Let us start off by saying this place has better french fries than McDonalds, which is indeed a big deal. Leoness Cellars offers 3 major experiences: Wine tasting, Winery tours and a restaurant.

Their truly knowledgeable staff gives you a top notch wine tasting experience, and it’s all done in stunning area surrounded by mountains and vine yards. It makes a great scenery for your Instagram stories.

We found the winery tours interesting and educating, and we absolutely loved the farm-like atmosphere. The restaurant brings even more luxury to this place with very nice and kind of pricy dishes. This winery has won multiple awards and it’s wine is fantastic. It’s a magical place to visit as a couple, but it can serve you in larger groups as well.

Oh ya, and it looks like a castle.

5) Peltzer Winery

25 Acres of vineyards, a cool pumpkin farm, rich history and of course great wine! We loved Peltzer Winery for several reasons: The atmosphere of this place is unique, very vintagy, we loved the scenery of this big wooden cottage with a chicken compass on the roof, surrounded by farms and vineyards.

The second and perhaps the thing that makes it special the most – it hold different kind of activities throughout the week. You can check their event board https://www.peltzerwinery.com/event-directory/events-calendar/ to find the right activity that fits you best.

This place hosts weddings, and for a good reason, I’d love to get married in the scenery this place provides.

Bonus: Wine Tasting Tour in 3 Different Wineries

This one can burn you a whole day – We took this awesome trip in Temecula, 6 hours across 3 different wineries – Masia de la Vinya Winery, Oak Mountain Winery, Somerset Vineyard and Winery.

These are top notch wineries with world-class wine. The third one, Somerset, has a stage with live music and you know how much we love those. Perfect for couples or groups that seek an attraction for the daytime.

Let us sum things up

Whether you’re a couple, a group or going solo, Temecula has the right winery for you. We would recommend choosing to visit the winery that fits your style best –

If you’re in the mood for some music and dancing, something more active, then I’d go for Lorimar. If you’re coming as a family or a group and you want to taste good wine in a stunning area, I’d suggest Wilson creek or Peltzer. If you’re trying to enjoy a quiet magical morning with your date, my first choice would be Vindemia. Lastly, if you’re looking for a luxury experience, I’d choose Leoness.
